FAQs
What is your approach?
For me therapy is a collaborative process and you are the expert of your own life. I want us to work together to make a plan that feels right for you. I’m here to provide support, information, helpful tools and therapeutic techniques in a safe way that allows you to be yourself.
I believe in a strength-based holistic approach and draw from several counselling theories to best meet the needs of each client.
What happens in the first therapy session?
The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other, for me to answer any questions that you have about therapy, and for us to make sure it feels like I’m a good fit for you. I’ll ask you some questions to start to get to know you and the things you want to explore in therapy. After that, we’ll set some initial goals on what you want to get out of the therapeutic process.
How long are sessions?
A standard session is 50 minutes and extended sessions are 80 minutes.
How often will we meet?
Often clients meet weekly. Everyone is unique and we base the frequency on what feels manageable to you.
Do you offer in-person sessions?
Art and therapy sessions are in person at the new Luma office!
What are your qualifications?
I have a Master’s of Education in Counselling Psychology, and I am a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.
Do you take insurance?
My sessions are covered under some insurance plans. I encourage you to check with your insurance company to see if your plan covers therapy sessions. My Manitoba Blue Cross provider number is: 10234
